ROYAL
EDINBURGH GALLERY NOW OPEN
The new Queen's Gallery at the Palace of
Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh - Queen Elizabeth II's official Scottish
residence - opened to the public on November 30.
The first exhibition is "Leonardo da Vinci: the Divine and the
Grotesque" (Nov. 30 - March 30, 2003) - the largest exhibition of
his work ever held in Scotland. All 68 works, examining his
life-long obsession with the human form, are from the Royal
Collection, which has the world's finest group of Leonardo drawings.
The £3 million Scottish gallery, built in the shell of the former
Holyrood Free Church and the Duchess of Gordon's School, follows the
opening last May of a new, enlarged Queen's Gallery at Buckingham
Palace in London. The Edinburgh gallery will open daily,
admission adult £4, under 17 £2, concessions £3.
