UK-based culinary holiday operator,
Gourmet On Tour, recently announced
the launch of its exclusive culinary tour
to Japan, offering lovers of fine food
and cultural adventure the opportunity
to discover the origins of Japan’s
healthy and exquisite cuisine.

Lead by cooking author, food writer
and culinary instructor, Hiroko Shimbo,
the tour visits Tokyo, Kyoto and several
other rural locations where the group is
able to experience food markets, cooking
speciality stores and authentic artisan
producers of such traditional foods
as shoyu (soya sauce), miso (soyabean
paste) and sake (rice wine).

Along the way, participants are also
able to enjoy cooking classes featuring
regional specialities, and the chance to
dine at a variety of carefully selected
restaurant offering the best of regional
cuisine.

Apart from its culinary focus, the tour also allows ample time and opportunity for visitors to enjoy the historical and cultural attractions of Japan and to sample the lively urban nightlife of some of the country’s most famous cities.

The 10-day tour package costs £5,650 per person and includes deluxe accommodation
(both western-style and Ryokan), meals, all transportation within Japan, cooking classes and sightseeing. Travel to and from Japan is not included.
The first tour starts on 5 October 2002.
