Apple SauerkrautGreat with sausage, or as a side
dish with pork or macaroni and cheese. Spread on dark rye
and top with muenster or Swiss cheese for an excellent
grilled sandwich. Really easy and keeps well.
1 onion, grated
2 T. butter
1 t. cinnamon
1 lb. jar prepared sauerkraut, drained
3 McIntosh or Cortland apples, grated
1 t. caraway seeds
1 t. black pepper
Melt butter in skillet, add onion and cook until
fragrant. Add caraway, cinnamon and black pepper. Stir and
add grated apple. Cook 1-2 minutes. Add sauerkraut. Toss
together and simmer 10-15 minutes, covered. That's it!
