Chocolate Gravy

2 tablespoons of cocoa
1/3 cup of sugar
2 tablespoons of flour
A dash of salt
1/4 cup of hot water
1 cup of milk

Combine the cocoa, sugar, flour, and salt together and mix until well blended. Add the hot water and cook over low head until the ingredients are dissolved. Add the milk and cook until the gravy thickens. If you like chocolate this is absolutely wonderful with real butter over hot biscuits!

This is just the basic recipe. I normally add more cocoa or sugar to make it sweeter or more chocolaty. Depending on how much you want to make you may need to adjust the quantities a little.

Here is a variation on this recipe:

Chocolate Dumplins

1/3 cup of cocoa
2/3 cup of sugar
1/8 teaspoon of salt
3 to 4 cups milk
2 tablespoons of butter
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Dumplings:
1 1/2 cups of self-rising flour
1/2 cup of milk

Mix the sugar and cocoa in a medium saucepan. Add the 3 to 4 cups of milk and the salt and mix well. Bring to boil over medium heat. Mix flour and the remaining 1/2 cup of milk together as if making drop bisquits, if too thick add a little more milk. Drop by tablespoon fulls into hot chocolate mixture. Add the butter and vanilla. Cook until thick and dumplins are done. Serve plain or with ice cream.

You can also make these with blueberries or strawberries instead of chocolate which is also very good
