Caramel Cake


2 cups brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup sweet butter
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup sour milk
2-1/4 cups cake flour, sifted 3 times
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract

Cream butter and sugar real well until light and fluffy. Add beaten eggs Sift flour, baking soda and salt. Add alternately with milk, beat well. Add vanilla extract. Bake at 375º for 30 minutes (but check) For glass pans, bake at 350º Can double for 2 layer cake.

Caramel Frosting:

1 cup brown sugar
4 tsp. cream
1 tsp. butter
Cook 1 minute, cool. Then beat until hard or ready to spread
