Candied Red Apples on Sticks
10-12 wooden skewers
10-12 medium size apples
3 cups sugar
1/4 tsp cream of tarter
2/3 cup water
1 tsp lemon juice
15 whole cloves
1-2 tsp red food coloring
Stick skewers into stem end of apples.Combine sugar,cream
of tarter,water,lemon juice and cloves in heavy saucepan,stir
over heat until sugar dissolves.Add coloring.Boil without
stirring to 300 degrees or hard crack stage.Remove from
heat.Skim out cloves. Twist apples in syrup quickly.Set on
buttered cookie sheet.
