Chinese Chicken Wings.
Ingredients:
Chicken Wings-6
Red Wine or Sherry-1/2 cup.
Salt-1/2 teaspoon.
White Pepper-1/2 teaspoon.
Chinese 5 Spice Powder-1 teaspoon.
Honey-2 Tablespoons.
Grated Orange Rind-1/2 teaspoon.
Garlic powder-3/4 teaspoon.
Soy Sauce-2 teaspoons.
Sesame seeds-to garnish.
Peanut Oil-2 tablespoons.
Instructions:
Pour the wine or sherry into a medium frying pan. Bring to a
boil. Place the chicken wings in the wine and reduce the heat
to medium. Cover the pan and allow to braise for 5 minutes.
Turn the wings over and cover the pan for another 5 minutes.
Remove the wings into a baking pan. Into the wine mixture add
all the other ingredients except the sesame seeds and bring to
a boil. Whisk the ingredients so that they are well combined.
Pour the sauce over the chicken wings. Place in a preheated
425 degree oven for 12 minutes. Remove the pan and flip the
wings over. Return to the oven for another 12 minutes. Broil
for a few moments to crisp the wings. Sprinkle the sesame
seeds over the chicken wings. Makes a lovely appetizer.
