Eat
what you love and make your doctor happy.
Celebrity Chef Eddie Matney co-authors cookbook- partial
proceeds benefit Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
Now it's possible to eat what you love and make your doctor
happy, thanks to the creation
of Heartfelt Cuisine, Quick and Easy Heart Healthy Comfort
Food, A Cardio Friendly Cookbook For Meat and Potatoes Folks.
Heartfelt Cuisine features such family favorites as "fried"
chicken, macaroni and cheese,
mashed potatoes with gravy, corn bread and lots of decadent
desserts. "We created recipes that are fun to make and eat,
taste great and are full of flavor, yet low in fat, sugar and
sodium," says celebrity chef Eddie Matney, co-owner of Eddie
Matney's restaurant in
Phoenix.
The recipes are designed for families and people with busy
schedules who want to eat well with quick, healthy foods.
Therefore, most of the recipes can be created in 15
minutes or less.
The cookbook was originally started by cardiac nurse, Karen
Pryce. Karen and her husband developed heart disease
early in their married life and resolved to raise their family
on heart healthy versions of their favorite foods. Currently,
the Pryce's two adult children show no signs of heart disease.
Pryce's cookbook laid the foundation for Heartfelt Cuisine,
which was expanded upon with the culinary expertise of chef
Eddie Matney.
The cookbook has been enthusiastically endorsed by numerous
Valley doctors, including internists, cardiologists,
obstetricians, gynecologists, pediatricians and general
practitioners. Many of the doctors plan on using Heartfelt
Cuisine to create meals for
their own families.
Mike Morgan M.D., Cardiologist states, "For my patient
population, the phrases 'comfort food' and 'heart
disease' could not be used harmoniously in the same sentence.
Now with this book, creative recipes open the door for
great-tasting meals and good health to go
hand- in-hand."
KeriLyn Morgan M.D., Internists says, "As a physician, I
recommend this cookbook for my patients wishing to maintain a
healthy lifestyle, without having to compromise their favorite
foods. But as a busy mom, it makes it easy to practice what I
preach!"
And Burt
Webb, M.D.,OBGYN says, "Heartfelt Cuisine is an honest book.
With our hectic lives, we need some way to prepare healthy
foods quickly and easily. I make these recipes for my family
when my wife's carpooling the kids around."
Public book signings are in the process of being scheduled.
Heartfelt Cuisine can be purchased by visiting
