I made shepherds pie the other night, and was telling a friend of mine about it. She suggested I use a small capful of chili powder and a small capful of chocolate powder.
Chocolate powder??????????????
I tried it, and it was wonderful. It really brought out the flavour of the meat.
Anyone else tried this?
For the mashed potato, I also used german mustard, garlic and cheese (I normally just mash the spuds with butter and milk).

I'm told that an essential ingredient of a proper chili is chocolate. So it could possibly make sense.
